Hi Beate, thanks for the feedback - really pleased you found the presentation useful. You should be able to view a recording of the session online to share with your colleagues - I haven't seen it yet to know how well that has worked.

Alternately, I can post the presentation on the blog once the conference is over.

Enjoy the rest of the conference!

Hi Bryan,

Thank you for a great presentation at the IFC Online conference just now, very inspirational:) My favourite part was actually your first slide; "we are all in the same boat" - far too many claim themselves experts on the new social media-arena when in fact we are ALL still learning. Very refreshing to actually hear someone admit to that, and that makes your good tips and experiences all the more believeable and valuable.

I wonder, are any of your slides available anywhere? They would be a great help in explaining the challenges to those "less online" within my organisation, and would be great for inspiring good strategies for how best to deal with, and get the most out of, this "new" world. I'd really appreciate if you would lend them to me (strictly for in-house use).

Thank you:)

Hi Bryan - I wanted to send you this site to check out - EXPLORE.ORG - it's an online collection of professional films and photography that shows the impact of philanthropic giving and the efforts of non-profits worldwide.

There are hundreds of films, ranging in length from one minute video clips to longer pieces that uncover issues like domestic violence, environmental education, and pet therapy for disabled children. It's a good source for people who are interested in all sorts of global issues and want to "meet" the people who are working every day on them. (Interviews with NGO leaders coming soon!)

Poke around and see if you think it's interesting enough to post on it. You can always email me for more information on the project that's not on the website...

Hey Brian,

first of all, thanks for your wonderful blog! To me, it's one of my main sources of information for developments in the field of online/social network fundraising!

Next to that, I came across this nice site I thought might interest you too, it's not social network or anything, but as far as online giving goes, I think it sure is an inspirational one! You can find it at:
http://www.donate-a-meal.com/

best wishes to you, keep up the blogging!

Hi Viet,

Thanks for your feedback - really pleased that you find the blog so useful.

You're right that there do seem to be a growing number of project crowdfunding sites like Play it Forward out there these days. Many of these do actually specialise in projects focusing on a specific cause - especially Overseas Development (think Kiva and GlobalGiving) - while only a few offer a full range of causes under the 'all your giving in one place' USP you mention (like Play it Forward). Well implemented, there are merits to both approaches - and it'll be interesting to see which are most successful in the coming months and years.

Hi Brain,

Excellent site. Rare and highly useful content.

I took special note of your article featuring the soon to launch "Play It Forward". Seems these platforms are fast gaining ground and that gives me confidence that my version of "Playing It Forward" may have some merit. I know one of the key selling points for these kind of sites is that you do all your giving in one place. Nevertheless, I believe a viable alternative is to develop a "digital giving" site of singular focus. For example one exclusively devoted to the Environment.

Curious if you would agree/disagree? Also, do you do any paid free-lance consulting?

Best,
